Hana, a young Albanian, follows the ancient but still existing tradition of the “burrnesha” and renounces all sexuality. Officially, she accepts the role as a man. When “Mark”, torn inside, moves in with his sister Lila, who lives in Italy, the pressure to play a role becomes brittle again…

Laura Bispuri
After studying film at the Roman University of La Sapienza, Bispuri initially made short films. Passing Time was awarded the Premio David di Donatello for the best short film. In 2011, she was named Young Talent of the Year for Biondina at the Italian critics’ prize Nastro d’Argento. Her first full-length feature film Vergine giurata premiered in competition at the Berlinale in 2015 and was then shown at over 80 festivals and won numerous prizes.
